The Croatian team of the international project Liminal Waterway Countercultures invites you to the conference Bending the Rules: Social Radicalism, Wanderlust, and Utopianism in Children’s and YA Literature.
At the heart of the LIMINALWATER project lies an inquiry into how economic and environmental crises shape both collective and individual cultural and literary imagination. One often neglected and overlooked aspect of this imaginative domain is children’s and YA literature. As will become evident, literature for children and young adults is not merely a site where social crises manifest, but also a space of radical emancipatory critique and revolutionary imagination that frequently anticipates and complements, and at times even transcends, science, cultural studies, and humanities theory.
