Panel discussion from “History to theory: historiography as a craft”

On Tuesday 26 November 2024, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences hosted a discussion entitled “From Theory to History: Historiography as a Craft”, dedicated to the role of narrative in historiography. The occasion was the recent publication of the book “Writing History” by the French historian, theologian and philosopher Michel de Certeau. This classic of historiography, published in 1975, was one of the first to herald the shift in historiography from quantitative history to history as, as the author puts it, “the stories told by the whole of society in the countryside”, and over the years has become an indispensable reference in discussions on postmodern historiography. Dr Dr sc. Nenad Ivić and Dr sc. Zrinka Blažević, and as moderator Dr sc. Nikola Tomašegović.
